Businesses with Benefits: How profit and purpose can co-exist through social enterprise
November 17, 2020

How do businesses influence society, culture, and the environment? And how can we more intentionally use business as a force for good?
This panel discussion will explore:
– What are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and how do businesses contribute to helping or harming in the pursuit of shared goals like these?
– What is a social enterprise? How does it differ from mainstream business? How can this business model help businesses achieve both profit and social purpose
– What is it like to run a business as a social enterprise? What are the benefits and unique challenges? What have local business owners learned from their experience merging profit and purpose?- – What do investors look for in a business? How does operating as a social enterprise or a social-purpose business influence investors? How is this different for “impact investors” or “social financiers” as compared to business investors that are exclusively profit driven?
